Gloucestershire Environmental Trust
Since its foundation in 1997, Gloucestershire Environmental Trust (GET) has supported over 400 projects in Gloucestershire to the tune of more than £6 million.
The Trust is funded under the Landfill Communities Fund by Cory Environmental Ltd., which owns and manages waste management operations in Gloucester, Stoke Orchard near Cheltenham and Cirencester.
The Landfill Communities Fund
The Landfill Communities Fund is operated by environmental bodies which are enrolled and regulated by ENTRUST – a Government appointed regulator. These bodies receive funding through the scheme and also put forward applications for grants to ENTRUST for approval.
The Landfill Communities Fund (LCF) encourages and enables landfill operators to fund these environmental bodies by giving them a 90 per cent tax credit against their landfill tax payments. Cory Environmental and other landfill site operators then provide a further 10 per cent towards the grant to these bodies. These tax credits are currently capped at 6.0 per cent of the landfill operator's landfill tax liability.

Applications for funding from Gloucestershire Environmental Trust will only be successful if they fit with the Landfill Communities Fund objectives and are approved and registered with ENTRUST.
More information on ENTRUST is available at www.entrust.org.uk and in the FAQs section of this website.
Applications for funding
Applications for grant funding from the Trust must come from non-profit organisations. Only one application per organisation will be considered in any 12 month period.
The diverse range of projects supported to date includes: - community centres, historic churches, theatres and cinemas, playing fields and parks.
Recently the scope of the Landfill Communities Fund has been widened and the Trust has subsequently also become involved in a number of bio-diversity projects including schemes for nature conservation and better land management.
