What sort of projects will Gloucestershire Environmental Trust (GET) fund?
The Trust is able to fund projects that fall within one of the following categories:
• Remediation of contaminated land • Prevention of pollution – needs qualifying • Schemes designed to improve or contribute to the local community • Restoration of the built environment, including historic or religious buildings • Facilitating work with species and habitats through biodiversity conservation

What sort of projects won’t GET fund?
The Trust will NOT offer grants towards:
• Core funding (i.e. costs that are not directly attributable to the application) although a reasonable amount towards administrative cost of grant-aided projects will be acceptable. • Routine maintenance (although they will consider payment towards the costs of remedial work arising from historic failure to carry out routine maintenance, providing good reasons are offered. • Head office management fees, whether costs arise in Gloucestershire or elsewhere.
In addition, the Trust is not allowed to fund any project which is part of the duty of any public body; any project which benefits a landowner who has caused or permitted pollution of that land: or any project which is operated mainly with a view to profit.

Which geographical area does GET cover?
GET covers the county of Gloucestershire as administered by Gloucestershire County Council. It does not cover the South Gloucestershire Unitary Authority. |
| |
Does GET give priority to any geographic areas?
The Trustees give preference to applications arising in parishes that fall within a two-mile radius of Cory landfill sites and are most affected by their operations.
When the amount sought from eligible applications exceeds the funds available, the Trustees will consider the need for a geographical balance across the county and for a reasonable balance between different types of scheme.

How do I register with ENTRUST?
For more information on how to register with ENTRUST visit www.entrust.org.uk
In order to download the required forms, from the home page click on the ‘Library’ link. Then click on ‘List’ and select ‘ENTRUST reporting forms’. You will need to dowload Form 2 and then the relevant Category Form to your application.
| |
I am unable (or do not wish) to register with ENTRUST are there any other alternatives?
Yes, you could make an arrangement with an organisation that is already enrolled. Your project would then be registered in their name and they would apply to Gloucestershire Environmental Trust for funding..
You could also make an arrangement directly with Gloucestershire Environmental Trust so that it uses its enrolment to apply to ENTRUST – this is normally only possible for smaller organisations requesting lesser amounts of funding for a ‘one off’ project.
| |
I am looking for a small amount of funding, can GET use its enrolment to apply on my behalf to ENTRUST?
This may be possible if you are a small organisation and you are only looking for funding for a single ‘one off’ project. Decisions on whether GET will use its enrolment to apply to ENTRUST on behalf of a not for profit organisation are made on a case-by-case basis and should be discussed with the Trust secretary. |
| |
How much funding can I apply for?
The Trust usually gives grants of between £1,000 and £30,000. Funding is rarely given over £30,000 and the Trustees will need to be persuaded that the project particularly merits assistance at this level. |
| |
Will GET act as the sole funder for a project?
For grants of under £30,000 the Trust may contribute up to 75% provided the project is approved and within the regulatory requirements. The Trustees will give preference to projects where other sources of funding have also been secured. For offers over £30,000, the Trust will not normally pay more than 50%. |
| |
Can I apply for funding for more than one project?
You can only apply for funding for one project in any 12 month period. |
| |
Will GET act as the sole funder for a project?
GET will normally fund a maximum of 75% of a project’s total costs. |

Who will make the decision on whether my application is successful or not?
The board of Trustees will discuss your application before deciding whether it has been successful or not. |
| |
How will I learn if my application has been successful?
You will learn whether your application has been successful within three weeks of the Trust meeting at which it has been discussed – unless there are special reasons for the application to be deferred to a later meeting. |
| |
If my application is successful, do I have to spend the funds within a certain timeframe?
Written confirmation should be supplied that a significant part of the work will start within 12 months of the offer letter date. Where this is not feasible it should be clearly flagged in the application.
